During the dinner the following night, Susan does all the talking while Jackson seems distant. When Susan asks for an explanation of his behaviour, Jackson tells her he’s nervous because he has something to ask her. Susan encourages him to talk and Jackson asks her to marry him… Susan is shocked and runs upstairs to lock herself in her bathroom. Jackson follows her and talks to her from outside the door. Susan confesses she’s very emotional because she’s been so lonely without him and she doesn’t want to be the strong, single woman anymore. She also tells Jackson she loves him… but only silence meets her declaratation. Jackson, from outside the door, tells Susan he wishes she would have let him finish, and confesses she actually needs her to marry him because he’s about to be deported back to Canada since his student visa has expired 6 years before. Susan gets really angry with him and runs him down the stairs threatening him with a plunger… that in the end she throws at him.
The following day, Jackson goes back to Susan’s house with flowers but in the beginning she doesn’t want to listen to him. After a while, she lets him into the house and the two of them talk. Jackson tells her he had no idea she still had feelings for him and that he felt like he needed to move on and mend his own heart when she pushed him away. Susan takes the flowers Jackson brought her, and tells him she will marry him, but only to avoid his deportation. Their marriage will have no love and no sex. Jackson is not too happy about it.
After a while, Dave, who had invited Susan and MJ to go fishing with him with the intent of killing MJ or maybe the both of them, arrives at Susan’s house but she tells her she can’t go with him because she’s getting married. Jackson arrives, hugs Susan from behind and tells Dave that now he’s back. Dave is absolutely not happy.
In the end, Susan allows Jackson to sleep in her house but he’ll have to spend the night alone.
