I Hey guys!
Sorry that I've been so delayed in my report about my experience at "Standing on Ceremony -The gay marriage plays". LA is such a crazy place, and there are constant distractions everywhere to keep me away from sitting down and writing this thing. But here I go: (In advance, I'm so sorry if my english is kind of bad and "Scandivian" LOL)
The play was at The Coronet Theatre at The Largo. I ove this place for it's intimate atmosphere. I arrived early because I was so excited about finally seeing Gale up close. But also because the rest of the cast were brilliant and well-known, accomplished actors. (Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Caroline Aaron, Richard Kind and Kathy Najimy to mention a few) The show consisted of many different stories directed by different directors and they were performed in the form of dialogues/monologues.
Allthough Gale only spoke in four of them, he was sitting on the stage during the whole play.(And looking mighty fine.Hahaha) They were all sitting on chairs next to one another onstage during the whole performance. The theme was of course equal rights and the right to love who you want openly. I have to say that the writers and directors of all those small stories did a FANTASTIC job! The dialogues were so well written. So well articulated, and the stories were so multidimensional.
They managed to show these issues from so many angels at the same time. From different points of view.
And now..., Gale:)
Gale gave such an amazing performance! WOW! He transformed into this character SO different from anything we've ever seen him do. All his mannerisms, the way of carrying him self, his voice.. everything were almost unrecognisable in my opinion. And he looked absolutely gorgeous.
He was actually wearing glasses during his performance. And it looked reallygood on him. He was wearing black pants, a white shirt and a black blazer + those black shoes with white soles that he always wears:) He did most of his dialouges with Jesse Tyler Ferguson from Modern Family, and they had such incredible chemistry!
The stories were intelligent, hilariously funny, and heart-wrackingly sad at the same time. I actually started crying at one point. The main subject was of course gay marriage, but really in my opinion it was more about human worth, love, the right to live openly and free. It was about love found and lost. About the pain of losing someone, and about ignorance creates fear and hatred. ANd those conservative voices trying to marginalize others and degrade them down to some second rate citizens. Horrible!. But it was also warm, human and at times so funny that I almost fell off my chair.
I laughed out loud when Gale started one of his stories by saying "I love cock!" LOL. That one statement was very Brian kinney, don't you agree? " I love the taste of it. Well not the taste per se, cause it's just skin. But the feel of it" I don't rememer the exact words, but he said something similar to that. Hahaha. The very first and last story were about the same characters. Gale and Jesse Tyler Ferguson' characters were composing their vows for their wedding. It was such a cute and beautiful love story, and the chemistry between them was so believable. The whole show ended with them reciting these vows to each other at the wedding, and putting the ring on one anothers fingers. And then they kissed! It wasn't a wild, passionate kiss with tongue or anything. It was more tender and beautiful. And I have to admit it was kind of nice to see Gale kiss a man again after all this time! LOL! Job well done Gale!
After the show they served cake outside the theatre, and I decided to wait around for a while and see if Gale showed up. And he did:). The silly fangirl that I am, I was so nervous about approaching him.
I've met him twice before and have always been to shy and nervous to talk to him. But despite of my fear I went up to him and told him how much I enjoyed his performance. He was very nice and lovely, smiled at me and said thank you. But then lots of other people came over and wanted to talk to him, so I didn't get the oportunity to say anything else. And because all of this happened so fast, I forgot to ask to have my picture taken with him. Oh well, next time...
But for those seconds that he looked me straight into my eyes and smiled... It was such an incredible, but nerve-wracking feeling. I have to say one more thing before I stop rambling: You would think that it was impossible, but he is even more gorgeous in person than on tv and in movies. And he's very thin. In a good way of course. It looks good on him.
Thanx everyone for reading my story:)
QAF and GH forever!
