L.A. Film Festival: Passenger side screening

Imdb’s StellaDallas went to the Los Angeles Film Festival to see the premiere of Passenger Side. This is her report, please be aware that there are spoilers for the movie:

'If you think you'd like a film where two brothers drive haphazardly through L.A. while meeting various strange people and having existential slacker conversations, this may be your movie. It wasn't mine. Adam Scott does sarcastic and exasperated as well as he always does and the soundtrack is good. However, if you want to see Gale as Karl, know that it's the smallest role he's ever had.

The two brothers, Michael & Tobey, are driving around Los Angeles in search of Tobey's ex-girlfriend, Theresa (Robin Tunney). Tobey is clean and sober and still loves Theresa, who is also an ex-junkie. One of the people Tobey asks for a lead on her whereabouts is a guy serving as PA on a porn movie shoot in the Valley. The knock at the door interrupts a scene where a seedy-looking, sweaty Karl has been manfully pounding away atop a squealing woman while another... offers encouragement. (The shot is framed so that the "action" is out of view.) The Director is annoyed at the interruption. The PA goes outside to talk to Tobey while one of the actresses relates a strange dream she's had to the other. When the PA returns, the Director tells Karl the sequence of sex acts he is supposed to engage in with the two women and Karl repeats it, scratching his stubble: "First the pussy, then the titty fuck, then the rimming, then the anal, then come on her face." When Tobey returns to the car, Michael asks what was going on in there. "Tupperware party," Tobey replies.'
