New Secret Circle Promos

Thanks to @TVOvermind we have another article about The Secret Circle, with yet more praise for Gale!

"A lot of CW shows have a tendency to cast parents as secondary characters and focus on the younger generation, but The Secret Circle pilot puts the next generation (played by Henstridge and Gale Harold) front and center. EPs Miller and Hatem said that both Henstridge and Harold are such great actors (and they really are in these parts) that it would be crazy not to use them as much as they can. As well “the multi-generational aspect is so endemic to our story that you can’t avoid it. We’re going use them a ton. We’re going to get the grandparents in there on some level [as well].”"

The Secret Circle: Stars and Producers Share Details for the New CW Show

It is wonderful to hear that the parents will play such a central role in the show, and the more screentime for Gale the better! smile

Here we have yet another glowing review of Gale's performance in the TSC Pilot! Thanks to @heroine_tv

"Gale Harold was chilling and yet also smoldering. He reminds me so much of Daniel Gillies, however, this is a comparison that can only do him good. Every show needs a little Gillies or Harold, clearly. He was pretty much my favorite part of the pilot. He plays Diana’s dad, and I really can’t wait to learn more about all the parents, and what happened 16 years ago. Crazy dangerous stuff went down, and it changed these people’s lives forever. I’m all about the older generation at the moment. Love it!"

Also, another article with some thoughts on the Pilot (including mild spoilers):

"...the mystery involving the parents is the most intriguing part of the pilot..."

Will The Secret Circle be your new guilty pleasure in fall?

"@cinjudes Quite a bit. More than some of the coven members."

And also:

"Re: Gale Harold in #SecretCircle pilot. He is cold as ice and it's pretty dang hot in that creepy badass kind of way."

Sounds good to us! smile

This article on The Secret Circle at Comic-Con by Dreadcentral makes a couple of interesting mentions of Gale:

"What we've seen of the show so far really highlights the kids. How do the adults like Natasha Henstridge and Gale Harold play into things? According to Hatem, "It's kind of cool because the notion is that these people are descended from witches so it sort of runs in the family, and each generation has approached that challenge and that opportunity differently. The parents' generation had an experience 16 years ago that gets alluded to in the pilot and is elaborated on in future episodes where things didn't go as well for them as it could have, and so the question becomes with this generation of kids how will they deal with things, also in relationship to their parents, because not every character is what they first appear to be in the pilot."

...

"What I really love about making characters is I want my heroes to be flawed and I want my villains to be understood. Whether you agree with them or not, you understand why they're doing what they're doing, and you can almost empathize with them or you can sympathize with them or you can have some sort of compassion for them. And that to me always works the best. [...] You are going to understand Natasha Henstridge, you're going to see her be a wonderful mother, you're going to see her be a great principal. [Same with Gale Harold's character] - he's a lawyer, he's an upstanding person in this town, he loves his daughter, he loves her more than anything. And the mythology goes deep.""

Another article about TSC from Comic Con yesterday, by TVGuide, makes some interesting comments about the parents in the show:

"One of the main differences from the books is that the parents of the witches are much more developed in the series."

Hopefully this means some great screen time and some great storylines for Gale as Charles! smile Reaction to his casting and his performance in the Pilot has all been so positive, and we're very excited to see what this leads to in the show for him (and us!) smile

Secret Circle Comic Con Panel 2011

Many thanks to thesecretcircle.net for sharing this exclusive interview with TSC Executive Producer Kevin Williamson from Comic Con. He makes a wonderful mention of Gale:

"Kevin also talks about the book series being in development at the CW for a long time.”Me and Julie were first approached to take on the project and decided that we weren’t ready.” Kevin is also thrilled to work with several of the cast members like Gale Harold. He says, ” I’ve been wanting him to play this role. He’s been playing the hero in stuff, I wanted him to play the bad guy.”"

You can also watch the interview with Kevin here (please credit thesecretcircle.net if you re-post the article or video!):
TSC.net Exclusive: Kevin Williamson Talks About The Secret Circle at San Diego Comic-Con “We don’t have vampires and werewolves in this world.”

A few words about The Secret Circle that Kevin Williamson said yesterday during the panel for TSC at San Diego Comic Con:

According to Kevin Williamson, who also executive produces THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, he says this show is definitely a little different in tone than his vampire series.

“This is not as a violent show,” says Williamson. “VAMPIRE DIARIES as emotionally epic it is with its love story, there’s something very masculine about it with the vampires, and werewolves. THE SECRET CIRCLE, this is witchcraft – it’s not so in your face violent. As you saw from the pilot. He drowned the man, just by describing it. It’s just a different type of horror and menace. And that’s the challenge of it – you can’t take a knife and stab somebody.”

The series will also explore three generations of witches, which will likely open up the CW demographic a bit.

“There’s this young circle, this brand new circle, and you have sort of the next level which are the parents and then you have the grandmother who is in the elder circle,” says Williamson. “I was fascinated by the idea of which powers the have, what they can do with them and how they can do it. And some of the elders, in some sense, don’t believe there is a place for witches anymore. Others feel differently.”

Another mention of Gale in The Secret Circle in this new article from IGN:

"What I really appreciated though is the significant role the adult characters play in The Secret Circle, as it is clear that they will not be pushed to the sidelines. This includes Natasha Henstridge's character, Dawn, and a suitably creepy Gale Harold, who gets to show off the nastier and more brutal side of witchcraft in an early scene – While Williamson and his collaborators have said Secret Circle won't get quite as morbid and gory as The Vampire Diaries can get, they still don't seem to be afraid to at least get somewhat dark, based on the pilot."

Yet another positive mention of Gale in this new article about The Secret Circle by TVLine (thanks to my2cats for the heads up!):

THE GOOD:
"As Diana’s dad Charles, who is secretly the big pot-stirrer amongst the empowered adults, Harold oozes malevolence, no more so than in the pilot’s cold open or when he exchanges “words” with Adam’s blabby (yet entertaining) drunk of a dad (Queer as Folk‘s Adam Harrington)."

Adam Harrington makes a wonderful mention of Gale and their roles in The Secret Circle in this new interview:

"I get to work with the wonderfully talented Gale Harold who plays my arch nemesis, Charles Meade. Our history goes back to when we were teenagers in the series so it’s quite fun to play off of him. As the series rolls on you’ll see what has happened that’s given us so much history and why we’re so at odds with each other."

Scott Lowell has just tweeted about the QAF Convention HERE:

"Cologne QAF Convention folk have picked June 8-10, 2012 as dates. Now they need people to sign up before deciding if it can actually happen!"

As we mentioned yesterday, details on who to contact to show your interest for the Convention are HERE.

Let's hope lots of people sign up, so we can show our support and help to make the Convention happen! smile

The petition site for the QAF Convention in Germany next year has posted an update to say that the dates for the convention will be June 8th - 10th 2012.

Click HERE to see the update smile

It also says HERE that the dates came from the organisers of the Convention, but of course it's not yet 100% guaranteed that it will happen.

Update: Scott Lowell was asked about the dates on Twitter and he replied:

"@ChrissiWestside nothing definite has been proposed to us yet but the organizers are hoping to have it take place 1st weekend of June 2012."

So, until we hear something official, nothing (including the dates) is definite, of course! But we are still keeping our fingers crossed that the convention will happen next June smile
